How we picked

- In stock with a current price
- Up to three per brand
Listed from the lowest price. Prices and stock come from each store and are checked through the day. We haven't tested these products ourselves; the facts come from each maker's listing. Stores may pay Toodle a commission; that never changes what's listed or the order. How Toodle makes money
We go by what each maker says. "Compostable" usually means in a commercial facility.

Easy swaps
Some of the simplest swaps are the things you use up fastest: poop bags, shampoo and small toys. A shampoo bar replaces a plastic bottle, wool and hemp toys replace plastic ones, and plant-based poop bags replace conventional plastic bags.
What "compostable" really means
Most compostable poop bags are made to break down in commercial composting facilities, not in a backyard pile or a landfill. Check whether your area has a pet-waste composting service; if not, they go in the trash like any other bag. Never put dog waste in compost for food plants.
Natural toys still need supervision
Wool, hemp and cork toys are natural, but they can still be chewed apart. Supervise play and replace toys once they come apart.
Questions
- Are compostable dog poop bags better?
- They're made from plant-based material instead of conventional plastic. Most need commercial composting to break down, so check what's available where you live.
- How do I use a dog shampoo bar?
- Wet your dog, rub the bar over the coat or onto a sponge, lather, then rinse thoroughly.
- Are wool toys safe for pets?
- Wool toys are a natural option; supervise play and replace them when they start to come apart.
